Mary Fenn DC

District 11 Chairman Mary Fenn

International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2021 was well supported by clubs & members in District 11. They gave thanks to the NHS in hospitals, vaccination centres and local surgeries, sending thank you cards and delivering luxury & assorted biscuits & chocolate bars and hand creams to show our appreciation for all their hard work during the pandemic.

Our District 11 recipe book has been completed and is now with the printer. It has been produced with members supplying their tried and tested and many favourite recipes. It is being sold at a cost of £5.00 per copy in aid of Cancer Research UK. My thanks to all the members contributions for making it possible and I do hope you will enjoy using it and making many of the dishes.

The District Rally had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic and this year we can only hold it virtually, on Zoom. Unfortunately, the number of members we can accommodate using Zoom is limited.

I am looking forward to my visit to the hairdressers. The poster that Linda has done for ‘The Little Princess’ charity, is very good and I do hope that the salon’s will help us to promote this cause for children suffering from cancer, to enable them to have wigs to wear.

The vaccination roll-out is progressing with many members having received their first injection and others fortunate to have already had their second. Hopefully this will enable us to meet again soon. If we follow the recommended government steps, from 17th May groups of thirty can meet outside. We could all celebrate with garden parties, especially with the weather improving and the lighter evenings.

Yours in Friendship,

mary fenn sig
