Mary Fenn DC

District 11 Chairman Mary Fenn

Exec 2021-22
July executive meeting outdoors

In District 11 it is good to see that clubs are beginning to meet up again. Many activities have been outdoors for coffee mornings, afternoon teas, picnics (we do enjoy eating together), going on walks and taking care to look after each member when socialising with each other.
I have been able to attend two 75th Charter Celebrations, one sadly for the closure of Southampton Inner Wheel club but it was an enjoyable afternoon tea in Jane Strother’s garden and was well attended by present and past members.
Ventnor held their celebration with a BBQ in Linda Pratley’s garden and were joined by fellow Rotarians who were also celebrating 75 years. I had the pleasure of inducting a new member to their Inner Wheel Club, June Keys. It was a very enjoyable and well organised afternoon for 65 members and guests, fortunately the sun shone, as later they had very stormy weather and floods overnight.
In the coming months I am looking forward to visiting many clubs in our District, whilst still in office. I am attending District 7 and District 20 Rallies in September and Hythe & District IW Club, which I belong to, 50th Charter in October and to Jersey to celebrate their 70th Charter, postponed from June to November.
We are holding two skittles competitions this year, an East & West area. It has been a mammoth task for Jane to organise and it will be good to start off meetings with other clubs in our District. Plans are going ahead for our District Rally in November and it will be the first District face to face meeting that I will attend as District Chairman. It is always a very good event with a charity speaker and lunch and a great social time for us all to renew our friendship.
Zoom meetings have been held with Association Chairman Betty and she is keeping in touch with her blog and Teddy’s Travels and her charity for this year is ‘The Stroke Association’ with clubs doing lots of walking.
International Inner Wheel President Ebe Panitteri Martines also held a Zoom meeting with her theme ‘Pink First’ and 4 areas for attention during her year: HEALTH, EDUCATION, OPPORTUNITY & EMPOWERMENT

Yours in Friendship,

mary fenn sig
